Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if my system needs servicing?
Over time, refrigerant levels can decrease within the system, even without noticeable. It's advisable to recharge your car's air conditioning every two years to ensure it remains in optimal condition. The most obvious sign you may need our services is a complete lack of cold air in the cabin. However, if the cool air is inconsistent or not as cold as desired, we strive to achieve temperatures around at least 15°C below the ambient temperature, often reaching even lower. Additionally, if you notice an unpleasant odor in the cabin, it could be due to bacterial growth in the venting system or a clogged pollen filter. We replace these components as part of our 'Complete Service' or offer them as an add to your re-gas.

How do I find out which refrigerant my car uses?
Generally, cars manufactured before 2017 use R134a refrigerant, while those made after January 2017 typically use R1234yf. However, some vehicles from the transition period may still have R134a refrigerant. Before 1995, R12 was common, and some vehicles may have been converted to R134a. If you're considering this, please reach out to us for more information. You can usually find a manufacturer's sticker under the bonnet indicating the type of refrigerant in your air conditioning system, along with the required amount. If you're unsure, you can verify your vehicle's make, model, year, and fuel type online.

Can you do R12 to R134a Conversion?
Our technicians are able to do this service, at your home or place of work. It’s a fairly simple process involving changing the air con oil within the system to be able to use the newer gas, and also changing the valve ports used in recharging. We have kits available to be able to do this.
